about

Homes change when children arrive.

Every corner becomes a place to play. To crawl, to fall, to grow. The rug becomes a place to nap. The coffee table becomes a fortress. The living room becomes a playroom. And the home you built, slowly, stops being yours.

Maison Mayhem began with a simple idea: that a home for a child and a home you love could be the same home. That the floor she takes her first steps on could also be the floor you wanted. That refinement and mayhem could share a room, because in our home, they already do.

The maison part is what we believe about design. That a playmat is still a piece of furniture, and deserves the care of one. That a soft room for a small person is still architecture. That what you put on your floor matters as much as what you put on your walls.

The mayhem part is what we believe about childhood. That it’s loud, fast, soft, ridiculous. That nothing about it should be made smaller, quieter, or more tasteful than it actually is. That the years a home is loud are the years it’s most alive.

We named this brand for our daughter, Natalie, the original mayhem. The one who taught us that a beautiful home and a real childhood weren’t, in fact, opposites.

Maison Mayhem is for both.
